Peyia

Located on Cyprus’ most photogenic stretch of coastline, Peyia is a formerly sleepy village relaxing village located between the beautiful coastline and crystal waters of the Mediterranean and the rugged hills of Cyprus , and is still relatively unknown to tourists.  Those wishing to buy property in Cyprus are likely to appreciate Peyia’s undisturbed atmosphere and sunny Mediterranean climate, and with the resort of Coral Bay just a stone’s throw away, anyone who chooses to buy a second or retirement home in Cyprus will have the best of both worlds.

Like all of Cyprus, Peyia has a warm Mediterranean climate, with very little rain, and a large number of sunny days each year.   Peyia is relatively mild, compared to the rest of Cyprus, and is the only place on the island where bananas grow.

The easiest way to travel to Peyia will usually be through Paphos International Airport, which serves over half a million people each year.  The airport is located ten kilometres outside of Paphos, near Timi.  Cyprus Airways and British Airways offer regular flights to Paphos airport from London Gatwick.

Those who buy property in Peyia will find that provisions from village stores are cheaper than in the busier areas of Cyprus, as are the prices of meals out in local tavernas.  To the north, a variety of roads meander over the hills down to vineyards and the towns of Polis and Latchi.  Beyond these, you will find Aphrodites’ Baths and the Troodos mountains, both popular with visitors.  Well situated for exploring the west side of Cyprus, Peyia also offers easy access to the Akamas peninsula.
